Welcome to The Barbados Eco Lodge
Graham and Andrea would like to introduce you to their exclusive world.

Our website is currently being developed but we wanted to give you a brief idea of what we are developing so that you can follow our progress from here on in.. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.. |
In the heart of the tropical forests of the
Scotland District of Barbados sits Ecolodge - our
home and business premises.
Originally conceived 18 years ago by ourselves, Andrea and Graham Reeves-Law, from a few ideas, a balsawood scale model, an old book on solar energy and the help of the late Dr Colin Hudson - (environmentalist and friend), Ecolodge evolved.
We planned from the outset that our home would be built of indigenous materials while using local recycled materials and be as earth - friendly and environmentally friendly as possible. We believe that we have achieved just that.
In addition we use no public utilities, we make our own electricity (solar modules and wind generator), harvest rainwater, solar distillation of drinking water, re-use grey water and avoid black water pollution by incorporating high tech composting toilets.
The land, a 21 acre sugar cane plantation 25 years ago, since run to bush, is ripe for our organic farming. Fish farming, together with aquaponic vegetable growing and a biogas plant follow this year (2007).
We want to share this experience with all who want to see and listen.. To facilitate this we are building 5 holiday lodges (using only alternative building techniques and run in the same way as Ecolodge) for guests to enjoy. There will be others who will want to come for the love of the peace and quiet of the natural countryside, the wild life (monkeys, mongoose and tropical birds) or for walking, hiking, riding (horse or mountain bikes) even those who would want to learn candle making or tai chi.
We are sited just inland (a short walk) of the rugged and unspoiled east coast, yet only 15 minutes drive to the fabulous white sand beaches, restaurants and nightlife of Barbados's west coast.
We are equally happy to share our experiences of this wonderful country, Barbados, and having lived here for 11 years now, we have much to share.
Please feel free to e-mail us with your comments and questions.
